Mayfair – London, June 14th, The China (Guangdong) – UK Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference
(London and Shenzhen—16 June 2017) Shenzhen, China-based Hytera Communications Corp. Ltd. (002583.SZ), a market-leading provider of innovative professional mobile radio (PMR) communications solutions, received formal recognition of its acquisition of Cambridge, UK-based Sepura Plc at a signing ceremony at the China (Guangdong) – UK Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference in London on 14 June 2017.
In his keynote address at the conference, China's ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming noted that Chinese companies in the communications industry, Huawei, ZTE and Hytera, have been investing in the U.K. As a leading company in the global PMR industry, through meaningful acquisition, Hytera is now able to integrate the knowledge and expertise of both companies to advance together.
Key members of government and industry from both nations were present to witness the signing ceremony. The Rt. Hon. Greg Hands, the UK's Minister of State for Trade and Investment, and Party Secretary of Guangdong Province Hu Chunhua, heralded the golden age of business relations between the two nations, calling for continued co-operation, leveraging each country's expertise to drive innovation globally in a responsible manner.
Hytera was represented by Andrew Yuan, its UK Managing Director and Deputy General Manager of Overseas Business. Sepura was represented by Steve Barber, its acting Chief Executive Officer. The ongoing integration of Sepura Group into Hytera adds more than 600 professionals and two research centres—one in Cambridge and one in Zaragoza, Spain—to Hytera's 7,000+ global workforce.
"Recent tragedies in the UK, in Europe, and around the world highlight that our governments, commercial enterprises, and event organisers face continuing challenges to protect people and promote security," noted Yuan after the signing. "Hytera's sophisticated two-way communications solutions help make security operations more efficient and effective and the world safer."
Growth and continued cooperation were the themes of the Conference, which focussed on the continued development of trade relationships between the UK and China. At the event, the two countries agreed on driving forward several recently announced innovation and investment initiatives between the two nations, building on long-standing collaboration to continue to achieve “firsts in the market”.
The closing of Hytera's acquisition of Sepura Group was announced on 25 May 2017. By adding the U.K.-based Sepura Group, along with its subsidiary Teltronic S.A.U. with its headquarters in the city of Zaragoza in Spain, Hytera creates the largest PMR team in Europe, spanning the key PMR communications technology platforms of TETRA, DMR and LTE.
"Our many customers want to move forward with innovative PMR communications solutions. With the acquisition of Sepura Group, Hytera's greater technological expertise, our continued investment in innovation, and our global reach will push the PMR industry forward,” added Yuan. "And Hytera is looking forward to catering to our customers' communications needs with innovative solutions."
